Staying in a museum for modern art: people who love living with art will think they are in paradise in Room No. 205. The extensive room offers ample space for three large-scale works by the Jörg Hofer.

His series “Mikrokosmos – Makrokosmos” (Microcosm – Macrocosm) comprises three paintings: one wedge-shaped picture which dominates the entrance area, a horizontal strip over the desk, and a round work hanging over the bed. Among other subjects they are based on the theme of the relationship between nature and art forms. The brocade fabric on the bed headboard, and the carpet in the room match the colours of the pictures.

Hofer’s painting is based on his relationship with the strongly conceptualised scenic. On the one hand his work is characterised by his sensitive, richly-nuanced colouring. On the other hand he uses marble dust as a painting surface, thereby adding an extra dimensional element to his work. The dust imparts a relief-structure to the picture’s surface. Light floods in and is reflected in the crystals, making the picture shine and sparkle.

The final, harmonious, artistic touch is added to Room 205 by the seating group comprising original furniture from the old Hotel Greif which has been lovingly restored, the bay window and the glorious view of the Walther-Platz square.
