In the foyer, Maria Brunner underscores a quote by Ezra Pound, who immortalized Hotel Greif in the Cantos, his most important work.

Maria Brunner
Berlin-based Austrian artist Maria Brunner describes herself as a ‘thoroughbred painter’. Not all her works are in oils, however – she also paints with fabrics, digital collages, ribbons or quotes. For the Greif she chose a verse by Ezra Pound, who completed his ‘Cantos’ at the Brunnenberg near Meran: ‘The cake shops on the Newskij, not to mention The Greif in Bolzano …’ (Canto LXXIV, 295-297). Some letters are in red. Maria Brunner always uses red.

Maria Brunner, from the Shoe series (charcoal on paper, 1997), some are also at the Moma in New York.
