Arnold Mario Dall’O: Memories of Childhood Soap
‘Il Sole’: when you enter Room 107, the sun rises. South Tyrol artist Mario Dall’O has affixed bars of golden curd soap – a memory from his own childhood – to the wall and ceiling. The artist began by building a model of the room. His underlying equation: ‘soap = home = warmth = sun = shine’. Silk curtains and a brocade headboard reprise the golden sheen of the installation.
