Eduard Habicher
A precarious balancing act in the Stiegenhaus. It will probably all come down one day … but so far Eduard Habicher’s steel bands have held.

Sculptor Eduard Habicher
South Tyrolean sculptor Eduard Habicher likes to challenge the laws of gravity. He wraps stone and glass in seemingly delicate bands of steel, or places them in steel loops in ways that make you think they’re bound to fall. But there’s no need to worry when you climb the stairs, because Habicher is an excellent structural engineer who balances his objects with precision. So far, everything has stayed put.
