Emilie Mediz-Pelikan
If bodies are landscapes, we can lose ourselves in them too. What will we find?

Emilie Mediz-Pelikan, Female Nude from behind (pencil drawing, 1896)
Every body is a landscape, just waiting to be explored. In Room 207, the pencil drawing ’Female Nude from behind’ (1896) by Emilie Mediz-Pelikan (1861–1908) stands beside the sensually charged works of Gotthard Bonell. Mediz-Pelikan was one of Austria’s foremost female artists in the period around 1900. For the most part, her work consists of impressionistic landscapes. The artist visited Tyrol and South Tyrol on several occasions as part of her studies.
