Artur Nikodem
Into reality: Artur Nikodem’s expressive lines are juxtaposed with Karl Unterfrauner’s framed compositions.

Artur Nikodem, Aria (Sanguine pencil drawing, ca. 1920)
In Room 304, the drawing ’Aria’ (ca. 1920) by Artur Nikodem (1870–1940) is placed alongside Karl Unterfrauner. Nikodem was a central figure of Tyrolean painting in the inter-war period. Taking late Impressionism and Art Nouveau as his starting point, he went on to reinterpret their decorative qualities in a more expressive style. Sensuality and Eros are among his main themes.
