Wilhelm Nicolaus Prachensky, Model in Boots (pencil, 1922)
In Room 203, this work by Innsbruck artist Wilhelm Prachensky (1898–1956) has smuggled its way into Berty Skuber’s critique of the way the media present human bodies. The pencil drawing ’Model in Boots’ dates from 1922. Prachensky had a preference for architectural and landscape themes, which he balanced carefully with each other in subtle lines and nuanced colouration that are reminiscent of Egon Schiele. ’Model in Boots’ is one of his most delicate nude drawings.
