The gaze reveals the observer. What we conceal reveals us.

Athaliah, the wife of King Juda, overcame all obstacles in antiquity to become a supreme ruler. In Room 203, artist Berty Skuber uses this theme to address the contemporary diktat of the human body. Taking photographs and newspaper cuttings that expose the human body as her starting point, she uses the medium of drawing to reverse this development. Skuber uses associative drawing, watercolours, photography and typography in her encyclopaedic works.
