A stimulating constellation! The two abstract pictures – fish and bird – by South Tyrolean painter Willy Valier (1920–1968) belong to his early works, which straddled the fantastical and the figurative. A noble gryphon, the mythical emblem of our hotel, graces the headboard. Opposite Valier’s works, a gouache by Anselm Feuerbach (1829-1880) is almost as abstract; Goethe’s Iphigenia is considered the ideal woman of classicism.
