Manfred A. Mayr in the Whirlpool of Room 211

Artist Manfred A. Mayr

Open day: the Greif opening in 2000
When owner Franz Staffler said he wanted to use Room 211 for storage because of the sloped walls, the artist cried ’Give it to me, I can do something with it!’ South Tyrolean artist Manfred A. Mayr has the ability to read the history of a house and translate it into colours. He fetched Biedermeier furniture from the Greif depot, then combined it with modern pieces. There are two things you should definitely do in Room 211: open the burl wood cupboard doors, and sit down at the restored Blüthner grand piano.
